Dear Friends,
Do you like to wait? I know I don’t. I like things done yesterday, but many times feel l am running behind. The Bible has some wisdom here for us about waiting. Isaiah 40:31, “Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (ESV). That caused me to do some research about eagles. If we are compared to having strength like eagles what does that mean? I found out that Eagles are unique birds.
1. They symbolize beauty, bravery, determination, & yet with grace
2. They have amazing eyesight seeing as far as 2 miles ahead
3. Their grip is 10 times stronger than humans
4. Their wingspan can be as large as 8 feet long
5. They don’t hide from a storm. They fly into them and use the pressure to glide higher without using their own energy.
6. Their heads can turn 210 degrees meaning they can see at every angle
7. They don’t flock together, they rise above all other birds
I know many times days without our loved ones seem long and hard. If we were honest, sometimes we feel we would rather be with them than here on earth. But we are still here and can have a testimony of the goodness of God. The scripture is telling us what to do about it……If we spend time with the Lord, he promises to renew us with strength. Not just any ordinary strength, but that of eagles. Isn’t that great!!! In days when we are not seeing any purpose in this pain, we can find our source of strength from an all-mighty powerful God who collects our tears (Psalm 56:8), who works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28), and still has a plan for our lives (Jer. 29:11). However, it’s not a quick fix because God’s word says to wait, which means we must put our time in before the Lord in prayer and solitude. That’s where we gain the strength to rise above like eagles.
Here's the truth……We all tend to be impatient at times. It’s not fun to wait. It’s even worse to feel the pain and suffering of a loved one that was so near and dear to us no longer here. Yet, we can gain a heart of wisdom from solitude with the Lord who has a plan for our lives to carry on through our circumstances. He can bring order out of chaos giving us strength because of his steadfast love and compassion for every person.
So, get out there and spread your wings and soar, that’s what you are meant to do!
Be blessed my friends,
Sharon
